R Ashwin and Ishant Sharma have been asked to sit out the third round of Ranji Trophy matches, which begins on November 20, in order to rest up for India’s upcoming Test series against Australia.
Planning and preparing

Effective workload management
The selectors, along with the team management have made significant changes to their selection process in view or managing the increasing workload of players. Virat Kohli was rested for the Asia Cup as well as the recently-concluded T20 series against West Indies.
India’s fast bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, have also often been rested often in the last few months.
Fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been allowed to play for Bengal, but he has been permitted to bowl just 15 overs, with the possibility of a few extra overs.
Ishant has made a full recovery from an ankle injury he sustained in England. He took four wickets in Delhi’s opening Ranji Trophy game against Himachal Pradesh.
Ashwin, too, played in Tamil Nadu’s first match against Madhya Pradesh, earlier in this month, where he took match figures of 4 for 85.
