We are back at the fortress where a downcast RCB take on well..a downcast Mumbai Indians, with both teams coming in having lost their first match. One could argue that this is not new for Mumbai, they haven’t won any of their opening matches since 2013. But the first match would have set off alarm bells in the RCB camp. While the pitch was under prepared and caused problems for CSK as well, RCB once again went in with a questionable playing XI, something that has been the norm for Kohli and co. over the last few years.
You see Dhoni’s CSK and you see a team that would go to war for their captain. The CSK machinery runs on only one factor -trust, and it’s about time Kohli starts doing the same with his team if he’s looking to lift that coveted IPL trophy. He needs to pick a XI believing that they that will win him the match even if he fails with the bat. Chinnaswamy is known for its flat track and it’s going to be runs galore tomorrow.
A quick look at the teams:
MI Probable XI – Rohit Sharma(c), Quinton de Kock(wk)*, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Yuvraj Singh, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard*, Mitchell Mclenaghan*, Mayank Markande, Lasith Malinga*
RCB Probable XI – Shimron Hetmyer*, Parthiv Patel, Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers*, Shivam Dubey, Colin de Grandhomme*, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee*, Mohammed Siraj.
Shimron Hetmeyer failed in the first game and deserves another go, but it would do RCB good if he opened with Parthiv, which would allow Kohli and ABD to come in at their preferred 1-2 positions. Moeen Ali needs to make way for Tim Southee who is experienced in the death overs. Washington Sundar might also come in for Navdeep Saini to provide some depth in batting. He also comes in very handy with the ball.
Yuvraj Singh’s performance the other night would’ve have come as a blessing for Mumbai, and he would be looking to continue that form. MI have kept mum on the Jasprit Bumrah injury, but all seems to be good as he has been spotted training with the team here at Bengaluru. However, MI might not risk him and would bring in Lasith Malinga instead. This would mean Ben Cutting sits out and looks like Ishan Kishan might step in for Rasikh Salam.
Match Prediction – RCB to pip MI this game
