Mumbai Indians face Delhi Capitals in their opener, and would be looking to begin strongly in their chase for a record 4th IPL title. Delhi Capitals might have gotten rid of their ‘Daredevils’ moniker, but they would need quite a lot of daredevilry if they are looking to reach the play-offs this season.
MI Probable XI : Rohit Sharma(c), Quinton de Kock*, Suryakumar Yadav, Evin Lewis*, Yuvraj
Singh, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Keiron Pollard*, Mitchell Mclenaghan*, Mayank
Markande, Jasprit Bumrah
DC Probable XI : Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Colin Munro*, Shreyas Iyer(c), Rishabh Pant,
Hanuma Vihari, Sandeep Lamichhane*, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma, Trent Boult*, Kagiso
Both sides look solid on paper with a good balance between bowling and batting. With Quinton de Kock in pretty good form, it’ll be up to him and Rohit Sharma to get those crucial starts. MI also boast of a strong middle order and if they bat first, a total of around 200 is very likely.
Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, have a good mix as well and a lot would rely on how good the pace duo of Boult and Rabada are in the first few overs and in the death. With both MI and DC having had forgettable outings in IPL 2018, both teams would be looking to begin this season strongly.
Match Prediction – MI to pip DC in a high scoring match.
