Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah were brought back into India’s limited-overs squads for the series against Australia later this month. KL Rahul, who had been provisionally suspended after his comments on a talk show, was also called up to the ODI squad after representing India A against the England Lions. Rishabh Pant was the selectors’ choice for the second wicketkeeper slot.
While Bumrah was rested for the limited-overs series against New Zealand, Kohli was given the final two ODIs, as well as the T20 series off, in order to help manage his workload ahead of the 2019 World Cup.
Dinesh Karthik, who has been playing the finisher role for India in recent ODIs, was left out of both squads against Australia. Mayank Markande’s stellar IPL last year earned him a spot in India’s T20 squad.
India’s two-match T20 series against Australia begins on February 24. The five-game ODI series begins on March 2.
