The Universe Boss to retire
Chris Gayle has announced his retirement from ODIs at the end of the World Cup later this year in England. Gayle is 273 runs away from becoming the 14th player to score 10,000 runs in ODI cricket.

“You’re looking at a great man,” Gayle said. “I’m the greatest player in the world. Of course I’m still the Universe Boss. That will never change. I’ll take that to the grave.”

Bad year for Australia, great year for Cummins
Pat Cummins became the first Australia player since Glenn McGrath in 2006 to top the ICC Test rankings. Cummins also won the Allan Border medal earlier in the week at the Cricket Australia Awards in Melbourne.

Turn the volume up
Following the incident involving Shannon Gabriel and Joe Root, England player Moeen Ali has called for the usage of stump mics to eliminate abusive sledging from cricket. Moeen, in his autobiography, claimed that he had been racially abused by an Australian player during the Ashes in 2015.

“It’s time for people to behave themselves,” Moeen said. “Turn the stump mics up. Why turn them down? So people can swear? There is no reason to get personal.”
