Prithvi Shaw a top order batsman who hails from Mumbai, who oozes batting talent and has been already compared to the great Sachin Tendulkar at such early stage of his career. Mumbai has produced many quality batsmen as the likes of the great Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and it looks like this is yet another quality find from Mumbai.
Prithvi came into limelight when he scored 546 runs during a Harris Shield match at the Azad Maidan in Mumbai in 2013. But life hasn’t been so easy for this Mumbaikar, as his mother passed away when he was just four years old. Prithvi used to travel from Virar to Bandra with his father everyday for practice session.
Earlier this year, Prithvi made his domestic debut for Mumbai and went on scoring his first century on his very first match in Ranji Trophy. His consistent performance for Under-16 Teams helped him to earn a call for Mumbai. He became the youngest player to score a century in the Duleep Trophy final. The opener scored 154 for India Red against India Blue.
Later, this year in on-going Ranji Trophy, Prithvi has piled up runs on a consistent basis. As he is has already scored 3 centuries in just 11 innings at an average of 52.30. Till date Prithvi has appeared his 8 first class matches ànd has scored 945 runs at an average of 63.00 with strike-rate of 74.29. He has been named captain for Indian U-19 team for the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2018.
It would be interesting to see how he fares in upcoming IPL auction. Prithvi Shaw is made for a much larger things, but only time will tell whether he will stand up to the standards that has been set by him.
